Staff Accountant

Job Summary

The staff accountant position will assist the controller with the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. Primary responsibilities include the monthly close process, collection of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, monthly reporting, assist in the annual preparation of a budget, assist in the preparation of the annual tax return preparation and all treasury administration. The Staff Accountant will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate and manage personnel issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

  • Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable

  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly

  • Process payroll in a timely manner

  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed

  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis

  • Assist in maintaining the chart of accounts

  • Assist in maintaining an orderly accounting filing system

  • Assist in maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions

  • Assist in the issue of timely and complete financial statements

  • Assist with calculating and issuing financial and operating metrics

  • Assist with the production of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

  • Manage the 401K plan for the company

  • Coordinate the provision of information to external audits

  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

  • Extensive use of computers and computer programs including but not limited to Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office Programs

  • Establish a good communication and working rapport with accounting department, customer service, sales personnel and manufacturing personnel

  • Understand Douglas products and the mechanical applications in which they are used

  • Apply verbal and written communication skills to internal and external customers

Manual Machinist

Job Summary

Responsible for operating and maintaining machining equipment as required. This includes loading and unloading of machines, operating the machines, cleaning and maintaining the machines as directed. Machines included are lathes, end mills and other types of equipment required to perform this job. This individual is responsible for helping to ensure timely deliveries and a quality product and helping to ensure a clean, orderly and safe work area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Extensive use of equipment and machinery associated with the assigned job task.
  • Establish good communications and working rapport with supervisors, engineers and manufacturing personnel to insure a high level of customer service is delivered.
  • Understand Douglas products and the mechanical applications in which they are used.
  • Read a tape measure and understand engineered drawings.
  • Read micrometers and other measuring devices as required.
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Stand continuously for an 8-hour shift with overtime as required by company.
  • Apply verbal and written communication skills to communicate important issues to management and co-workers.
  • Continually exhibit the qualities of trustworthiness, a strong work ethic, and positive attitude.
  • Manage and organize own work while remaining a team player and handling other assigned tasks as required by the company.
  • Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area.
  • Regular, consistent attendance is a requirement. Overtime as required by the company.

Mill & Saw Operator

 

Job Summary

Responsible for operating and maintaining Saw as required. This includes loading and unloading of machines, making minor programming and set-up adjustments as directed by the supervisor, cleaning and maintaining the machines as directed. This individual is responsible for helping to ensure timely deliveries and a quality product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Extensive use of Saw equipment and machinery associated with the assigned job task.
  • Establish good communications and working rapport with supervisors, engineers and manufacturing personnel to insure a high level of customer service is delivered.
  • Make minor program adjustments and alter set-up on Saw equipment.
  • Understand Douglas products and the mechanical applications in which they are used.
  • Read a tape measurer to within 1/16 of an inch and understand engineered drawings.
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Stand continuously for an 8 hour shift with overtime as required by company.
  • Apply verbal and written communication skills to communicate important issues to management and co-workers.
  • Continually exhibit the qualities of trustworthiness, a strong work ethic, and positive attitude.
  • Manage and organize own work while remaining a team player and handling other assigned tasks as required by the company.
  • Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area.

Welder

Summary
Responsible for fitting and welding of idlers. Extensive use of welding equipment and fitting equipment is required. Must be able to read, understand, and build from engineered prints/drawings. Must currently possess or be able to attain AWS-required welding certification within the first 6 months of employment. This individual is responsible for helping to ensure timely deliveries and delivery of a quality product.

Inside Sales Representative

Summary
Responsible for the promotion and sale of all Douglas products within the assigned territory. Responsible for taking customer information, entering quotes, processing orders and completing necessary documentation for shipments. Will assist in the development of Distributors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (O.E.M), Engineering/Consultants and End-Users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to professionally represent company products and develop customer relationships on a daily basis over the phone.
  • Must be able to operate computers, enter quotes on a computer, convert orders and process all required paperwork to help ensure a smooth and trouble-free quote to order process for the customer.
  • Responsibilities relative to each assigned customer account include sales growth and quotation follow-up.
  • Establish good communications and working rapport with internal and external customers to insure a high level of customer service is delivered to all assigned accounts.
  • Understand Douglas products and the mechanical applications in which they are used.
  • Proficiently use computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and e-mail.
  • Apply verbal and written communication skills to customers in English.
